Hi Guys,
This question isn't for me but my Son, Aaron. He and his wife have a beautiful sweet Dobi, Watoga, who is almost 2 years old.
Every since her spaying she has had a small leaking problem with her bladder. He has had to relocate back to WV (new job) while his wife finished teaching summer class back in Ga. She is telling him the leaking has become worse.
Is this something that can be fixed by pills (as suggested by the Vet) or is it repairable by surgery OR do you think this is something that is just going to continue to get worse.
When he goes home this weekend he will be in touch with the breeder to see if this is a problem with dobermans or if she has suggestions. But he also want to talk with the Vet about real options to help Watoga.

T-Gal, I wish I knew something about this, but I don't. I haven't noticed any leakage with Zia. I will keep my eyes open on this thread and on Zia.

I personally would get an opinion from another vet before considering pills or surgery. Or at least an explanation on why it is happening and why pills or surgery would help.

Lulu's breeder did the early spay on her (10 weeks!) and I was very worried about incontinence. She did "happy pee" as a puppy (whenever she saw a person she'd go all happy and leak a little pee). I talked to the Vet and she told me to give her time, she thought it was either a maturity thing or if it didn't stop, possibly a behavioral thing.
Fortunately, she has outgrown it. I would talk to your Vet about it more.

I agree with Deb! Get another opinion from another vet! I have had several female dogs that have had other problems from spaying, but never this. Sounds like a nerve may have been pinched a bit in the surgery.
My most horrible experience was with a cocker spaniel that turned out to be a bleeder. We almost lost her during and right after her spaying, but everything turned out okay in the long run.

thanks guys,
I'll recommend they see another vet when he drives down. He has always gotten the run-around with this one. Either she'll grow out of it, lets wait and see, lets try pills... but he never has ventured why... Of course Aaron thinks something happen during surgery but getting a straight answer from this vet does not seem possible.

While I agree with the advice to get a second opinion and see another vet; it is also possible that the incontinence/leaking problem might be related to the spay. Could also be a behavioral or maturity thing too as Susan mentioned.
Getting a second opinion though is a very good idea..

I passed along the "youth, immaturity" idea onto Aaron too! They will check to see if it's only when she is excited.
thanks again Guys :CUTE:
