Sadie is scheduled to be spayed this Thursday...no more puppies for this sweet girl! I haven't had a dog spayed in 12 years or more...and advice?

I'm trying very hard not to be nervous. :NAH:

1st and foremost - Stay calm! She will be okay. When you take her to the vet, take a towel or something that you have slept with the night before and her favorite sleeping toy. That way she will have the smells she associates with comfort with her overnite in the vets office. Yes, I know she will be groggy, but isn't Sadie the one that doesn't care for strangers? IMO, this will help her relax.

As difficult as it is, please try to relax. Sadie will come through this fine. You will have her back in your lap in just a short while. Zoey and Leisl came through without a hiccup. Sadie will, too. We will be thinking of you and Sadie on Thursday.

It's hard not to be nervous, but she'll be ok. I got Zia spayed in February and was so nervous for her. Will Sadie have to spend the night? I took Zia in at 7:30 and picked her up at 3:30. She was real groggy for the rest of the day. The next day she was back to her usual self. It was hard trying to keep her from running and playing. I did buy her a onsie (on the advice of many people here) to wear so she wouldn't mess with her stitches. She never messed with them.

My understanding is that she will not spend the night. She goes in before 7:30 that morning, and the office stays open till 8:00 that evening. So she will get to come home Thursday evening.

It shouldn't be a problem at all - keep your fingers crossed!

My two both came home that afternoon, and both did great. I think it's worse on us. I was a wreck with Miss Gambler, and went on a huge shopping spree the day Mojo was spayed(had recently moved in here, an empty shell of a place). So I would suggest that you spend the day out having fun if you can(call in a sick day if you have to), time will fly, but let someone hold the credit cards, lol. And remember to give home and cell numbers.

It's hard not to be nervous. Just keep telling yourself that she will be fine. I like MGM's distraction idea!!!! We'll all be thinking of you & Sadie on Thursday. Keep us posted!
