Our "little" Rudy went to a show this weekend and won his class!! +BLUEAWARD+
He was competing in the 6-9 month puppy dogs and then went on to Winners Dog - where he was a little too rambunctious - one time behaving in the ring is apparently his limit right now.
We had a fun time and got some good experience. I also got some great tips from Rudy's breeder and learned a lot by watching other handlers. The judge was very nice and gave some good feedback . Most importantly, Rudy had a good time. He got to go swimming and played with his littermates. Bella had fun too, and didn't have to worry about staying clean!
My little boy is turning into a very beautiful dog. +WUBCLUB+

I'm so bad when it comes to pictures. I will try very hard to get some next time. I was so preoccupied with getting him and myself ready, and I made my husband hide, so Rudy wouldn't be distracted by him!

Have your hubby hide behind a camera next time.

Maybe he could use a zoom lense from his hiding place.

Congrats! It's always butterflies with that first time out. Tell you what it's so much fun to show a puppy-humbling too.

We went to our conformation class this morning. At the end of class our instructor always pulls out the top 4-5 dogs for "judging". She tries to simulate a show environment so the dogs get used to changing places and going around the ring together, etc. Yeah! Rudy and I made the cut this week. She told me she had picked out Rudy as her #1 pick because he was stacked so nicely, and then she looked down the line to see who her #2 was going to be but when she looked back at Rudy, she saw a Dancing Corgi! LOL
Rudy is slowly learning to stand still and hold his position, but being a 7 month old Corgi-boy, he can only do it for nanoseconds at a time before the urge to leap into the air hits him. He's learned he's not supposed to sit in that situation, so instead he jumps or dances around!
I may be enlisting some of my camping buddies this weekend to help us out with our table training. Rudy needs to get more comfortable with people he doesn't know well coming up to examine him on the table. I will give you some treats to give him and we can make it fun.

I'd be glad to help, and I'm also working on having Danny stand for examination etc and would love to have others handle him as well.
