Ch Wanderpond Cooperstown went to show in Canada for the first time and came home a new Canadian champion! Even though he isn't my dog, his owners and breeders are good friends and Cooper is also my Bella's littermate and Rudy's daddy. He did great going Group 1 on Thurs and Fri, Best of Winners on Saturday and then winning the herding group on Sunday!

Meanwhile I'm still working with Rudy in our handling class and he is making some progress. I think he does really well for a not-quite-6month-old puppy. Our instructor makes it fun for him so he will learn to love being in the ring. We are spending time together and having fun, so we'll see where that takes us.

Well, Rudy's tentative debut is planned for mid September. Our club's Specialty is next weekend and we are going, but the show is on Friday and Rudy won't be 6 months old until Monday, so he isn't eligible for the puppy class. Gay (Rudy's breeder and co-owner) hasn't seen him since the herding event, so she needs to see where we are with his development. I think he is gorgeous, but of course I have no objectivity at all!
I think it would be a wonderful experience to show him, but he is our dog first and foremost. I want him to be happy and healthy - if he does well showing, we will do it, otherwise he has lots of other talents to be explored. Or.. he can just be a dog who is loved and valued for being a member of our family. :SMILE:
