I've been keeping careful track of Mac's baby tooth loss (mainly because I'm trying to save as many little puppy teeth as I can...but also to make sure everything looks like it's going okay, he's not in any pain, etc.)
I noticed that his canine teeth on the bottom are already coming through, and can see that his top canine teeth are probably about to come in (can feel a bump under his gums and they look a little lighter pink than the rest of his gums). However, he hasn't lost any of his puppy canine teeth yet, nor do they even feel loose! Is this normal or problematic? I have to bring Mac to the vet really quick tomorrow anyway, just to pick up his K9 Advantix and Interceptor, so I feel like asking then won't be a problem. Just wondering if this is particularly normal or abnormal :)

Nope, he's perfectly normal. Chances are as the new teeth come in the puppy teeth will be pushed on, become loose and come out.
Keep an eye on them though every so often, they puppy teeth don't come out. Sometimes they are loose enough for you to pull out yourself or have your vet do it.

Heather, that is how it happened with Zeke and Zia, too.
Same here. One of Link's baby canines was still in there good along with the adult one. The vet said she'd remove it when he's neutered, as it was in there so good she didn't think it would come out. It fell out the next week.

Thanks :) Glad to hear this shouldn't be too much of a concern! I'll run it by the vet anyway tomorrrow, just to make them aware, and keep an eye on those big white teeth!

Mojo had to have her last baby tooth pulled when she was spayed, it was lodged in tight, and needed to come out so the position of her teeth would not be affected. It was a simple procedure since she was already out.

Heather have you heard the grind yet? Chester chomped/grind then I saw him chewing. Guess he was really intent on getting that tooth out! I didn't bother trying to retrieve the tooth from his mouth. I can't pulled his teeth. That is one thing that makes me squeemish. My son loves to wiggle his teeth at me.
I keep checking each day on the dagger canines to be gone, but those little nails, oh I mean teeth are still there. Chester's lips are floppy like a retriever, so different from Pepper.

No grinding! Then again, I check his teeth fairly often and I'm nt averse to pulling them out...I popped two molars out that seemed to be causing him some dicomfort this past week. Once they're actually good and loose, I've found that it's almost easier to just get Mac's out than to have him chewing things all over the plac for the nxt 24 hours or so.
Still no loose canines, though! The vet corroborated the advice here - just keep an eye on it, it shouldn't be a problem, but we'll pull 'em when he gets "tutored" if necessary.
