View Full Version : Andy's Limp

My poor little girl has had a slight limp over the past week or so. I thought she had just scratched her foot or something at first, but I checked her feet and toes carefully. The limp was only really noticeable at the dog run, so I thought maybe she was uncomfortable stepping on the rocks, etc.
Well, I made an appointment at the vet for Monday (the earliest I could get). However, last night, I noticed she would sometimes not put any weight on it or hold it up. Hmmm. But I can't get her to stop running around and playing with Rhys...so it must not be too bad.
Wish us luck. +WUBCLUB+

Good luck at the Vet's on Monday, and hopefully you can convince Andy to rest that leg in the meantime. Sometimes that is all that is needed if it is nothing serious, and if it is serious, rest is for sure the first step.
Please keep us posted.
Because of Dylan's ACL surgery, I tend to be very cautious.

How old is Andy? Lulu was diagnosed with Panosteitis when she was about 8 months. "Growing pains" - when the bone has a soft spot. It goes away with age. But it broke my heart and of course, had me very worried until the Vet took xrays and explained it to me.
Good luck and healing wishes to Andy!

The kids will be 2 next month. It is her front left leg that is bothering her.

I hope that everything is okay with Andy +WUBCLUB+
I know it's hard, but if you keep her on leash and limit her activity as much as possible before Monday - if she improves a little or even if not, it will hlep the vet in his/her diagnosis. That's always the first thing my vet tells me to do - rest them and see if there's improvement.

Sorry to hear that Andy is not feeling 100%, and I hope that it's just from playing on a sore leg, sometimes, they just don't know when to stop, so be forceful and stop her this weekend(maybe it will clear itself up with the rest) then let us know what the vet says as soon as you can. We're sending lots of healing vibes for this weekend. (Also, you have mentioned this dog run before, is the surface anything new to their paws? That's just a thought that crossed my brain, may not mean anything.

Hope Andy is feeling better soon! And that the vet can tell you what is wrong. Hopefully rest will make her feel better. It's always a struggle to keep them calm and quiet but it can be done (just ask Sam who has been lame for almost 6months now with no diagnosis)

Turns out that the only thing the vet could find was a small pinkish area with a scab, up under one of her toes. She couldn't find anything else wrong!
I hadn't seen anything before. But, Sunday afternoon, Andy stepped that foot in relatively-fresh (dirty, but minty smelling) gum. I had to trim a bunch of hair off that foot to get the gum out! If that hadn't have happened, we might not have seen anything! :TWITCHY:

Nice to hear that the vet couldn't find anything, other than that small pesky healing sore. She must have delicate feet, lol.

Get that baby some shoes! my Goodness letting Andys little "sugar paws" go unprotected and stepping in gum.... what she has to endure!
Seriously, glad she is OK
